A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique engineering school, the National School of Telecommunication Sciences and the Joint Service Defense College, Bertrand spent 26 years of his career as a Special Forces and intelligence officer, shared between operational units in France and abroad (Africa, South America, Central Asia, Balkans) as well as general staff positions.

He subsequently became Managing Director of Operations at a risk management company which he then left to found Axis in late 2005 together with Jean-Renaud Fayol.
He founded Axis Helvetia in 2016, based in Geneva, and coordinates the group’s activities in Switzerland, of which he is a citizen.
